An estimated 15,000 Pennsylvanians are homeless or experiencing housing insecurity on any given day, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Housing and Development. This number includes both rural and urban areas. Homelessness and those experiencing housing insecurity are defined as people who live on the streets, in shelters or cars, or are living double up with family or friends in a single living space.
The chart below is built using data from the 2022 HUD CoCs Point in time survey, and differentiates homeless households by reported type.

2024 Highlights and Final Figures
Central PA Operation Warm Hearts continued to grow in 2024, donating to 17 local organizations. We supplied 3,548 items to those organizations, including hats, blankets, socks, mats, and hygiene kits!

2023 Highlights and Final Figures
Central PA Operation Warm Hearts donated to a total of 15 partner organizations this year, supplying them with over 3,000 items. We donated nine months of the year, and are very close to extending our donation period to a full 12 months. Along with adding Lancaster to our list of donation locations, we grew enough to move into our own building!
